Winter season over? You can still ski Tignes

banner4_20090605153732 Winter season over? You can still ski Tignes

Another epic ski season comes to an end and what a good season it was. Today is the last day of the winter season for the few high altitude ski resorts across the Alps, which are still open.  Than starts the long, long wait until the next season starts.

Of course you can fly to New Zealand, Oz or South America to extend the winter season. However there are cheaper ski and boarding options much closer to home.

Tignes opens it glacier ski domain again as early as the 21st June.  The Grande Motte glacier ski area is open every day from 20st June to 31st August 2009. In just 42 days you can ski again and explore Tignes’  summer skiing that boasts 16 ski lifts, 20 km of runs and a vertical drop of over 750 m at 3450 m. Last two years I had powder skiing the Tignes glacier. Don’t forget if it rains down the valley the changes are it snows in 3450m altitude.

And the good news is that the glacier reopens for the winter season early October! The wait to next ski season is not that long after all.
